Sue Shay Danielewicz Honored as Atlantic-10 Legend

BY JEFF FALK

Sue Shay Danielewicz enjoyed an outstanding scholastic basketball career at Palmyra High School. But she was one of those rare players who went on to college and excelled more.

Representing St. Bonaventure University, Shay Danielewicz was recently inducted into the Atlantic-10 Conference Legends’ class of 2016, during a ceremony conducted in Newport News, Virginia. Shay Danielewicz, a former Cougar and currently a fourth-grade teacher at Henry Houck elementary in the Lebanon school district, finished her four-year collegiate career as the Bonnies’ all-time leading scorer with a 16.6 points per game average, and as their all-time leading rebounder with an 8.4 carom per game average.

In fact, Shay Danielewicz set 13 St. Bonaventure records, including career free throws, points in a game and points in a season – 592 in 1988-89. A two-year Bonnies captain, Shay Danielewicz was named to the Atlantic-10 All-rookie team in her freshman season, then was named to the All-Atlantic-10 team in her sophomore, junior and senior years.

Shay Danielwicz led St. Bonnaventure in scoring in a season twice and rebounding in a season four times.
