Now Ashley Moyer Fosters Her Love of Basketball Through Officiating

Lebanon County is in need of female officials. And in no sport is that need greater than in basketball.

Quick, when was the last time you saw a female Lebanon County native officiate a girls’ basketball game?

Well, if you’ve been to any Mid-Penn Conference games this season and paid enough attention, you might have spotted Ashley Moyer.

Moyer, a former Cedar Crest standout and Millersville University star, is now officiating girls’ basketball games in the Mid-Penn Conference on a semi-nightly basis. Moyer is a shining example of what Lebanon County needs more of – women getting involved in local scholastic athletics, especially as officials.

While Moyer appears to be doing a good job of being a ‘ref’ on the high school level, partly through her prior involvement with basketball as a student-athlete, she would one day like to officiate on the Division One college level. Moyer, 26, is currently in her third year of working scholastic girls’ games.

  1. Good for you Ashley Moyer! You were one of the best pure shooters to come out of Lebanon county. I enjoyed watching you play for CCrest for 4 years
