Some younger people gain experience through getting into trouble. Kyle Martel is gaining experience by staying out of trouble.
The year 2010 was an uneventful one for Martel – and in many ways that was a good thing.
An aspiring stock-car racer and a Lebanon native, the 23-year-old Martel started five races on the ARCA circuit during 2010. Although the Cedar Crest graduate did not record a top-ten finish in those starts, Martel did finish 36th in the ARCA points standings by watching, learning and avoiding accidents.
Martel, who pilots a car sponsored by his father and crew chief Bill, now has 10 career starts in the ARCA series under his belt. His best career finish came in 2009 at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond.
