Cedar Crest’s Evan Horn and Palmyra’s Erin Huffman are the 2016 recipients of the prestigious C.S. “Pop” Kelchner Award.
Given annually at a November banquet by the Central Chapter PA Sports Hall of Fame to the top male and female student-athlete from Lebanon County and the surrounding area, the Kelchner award recipients must not only excel in athletics, but also enjoy success in the classroom and display high character on the playing field and in the community.
The award’s name-sake was a former scout in the St. Louis Cardinals organization and a standout athlete at Albright College who was interested in high school athletics and the character of its competitors.
Horn was a three-sport standout for the Falcons, excelling in football, basketball and track and field. He will continue his athletic and academic careers at the University of New Hampshire as a member of the football team.
Huffman had a distinguished field hockey career helping the Cougars share a state title in 2014, a runner-up finish this past season, two District Three titles and one Mid-Penn Conference championship. She will be attending Old Dominion University.
