It may be that the Lebanon Valley College football team has gained respect outside of its league, and that the Flying Dutchmen have yet to earn it inside of the rugged Middle Atlantic Conference.
The Flying Dutchmen were recently picked to finish an undistinguished sixth in the nine-member MAC by a pre-season vote of the conference’s coaches. Two-time defending champion Delaware Valley was tabbed as the Middle Atlantic Conference favorite, garnering seven of a possible nine first-place votes.
Lebanon Valley is coming off a 6-5 2010 campaign which saw it go 5-2 in the circuit. After getting off to a sluggish start last year, LVC rallied for its second straight NCAA Division Three postseason appearance.
Lebanon Valley will open its 2011 slate on Saturday, September 3rd at home with traditional non-league rival Gettysburg.
