Annville-Cleona Just Can’t Seem to Figure Things Out

BY JEFF FALK
They are nicknamed ‘the Little Dutchmen’. But perhaps this year’s version of the Annville-Cleona football squad should be called ‘the Young Dutchmen’.
On Monday night in Columbia, A-C’s fledgling team endured some more growing pains, falling to the Crimson Tide 34-8. The Lancaster-Lebanon Section Three contest was postponed from Friday because of rain, Annville-Cleona’s third such postponement of the year.
Columbia opened a 20-0 halftime lead on its way to notching the first 34 points of the game. The loss dropped the Little Dutchmen to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the section.
Annville-Cleona’s lone score came in the final stanza, after it had driven the length of the field. Running back Quentin Hall did the honors for A-C, taking it over from a few yards out.
The Little Dutchmen converted a two-point point-after when quarterback Tyson Hayes found Mitchell Rodkey in the end zone.
But before that, Annville-Cleona experienced difficulties moving the football.
