Brown-Auman, Troutman-Ulp Roll into Sullivan Semis

Rick Troutman and Greg Ulp have knocked on the door before. Yet it’s the same threshold which Dan Brown and Brian Auman have already walked right through.
The 66th edition of the W.B. Sullivan Better-Ball-of-Partners golf tournament at the Lebanon Country Club is beginning to take on the same shape as the 2010 event. On Saturday, local hopefuls Brown-Auman and Troutman-Ulp reached the semifinals in the match-play championship flight of the vaunted tournament.
Brown-Auman, the reigning champs, dusted Al Kline and Ed Gunkle, 4&3, after edging Craig LaBarbera and Jim Gardina on the 19th hole of their opening-round match. Troutman-Ulp defeated Ben Smith and Casey Osbourne, 2&1, then rolled over Chris Gebhard and Rob Stover, 4&3 in the quarterfinals.
While Brown-Auman were winning last year’s title through one half of the championship-flight bracket, Troutman-Ulp were reaching the semifinals in the other half.
Brown-Auman will face Danny McCreesh and Anthony Campanile in a Sunday morning semifinal, and Troutman-Ulp will meet William Schultz-Jimmy Ward in another. The winners will clash for the Sullivan title on Sunday afternoon.
On Saturday morning, Gebhard-Stover slipped by Chris O’Shea and Eric Schmidt on the 20th hole. Meanwhile, the Lebanon father-son duo of Roger Karsnitz and Brock Karsnitz opened with a 1-up triumph over Griff Baeshore and Connor Lefever, before falling to McCreesh-Campanile in the quarters.
