The Hershey Bears’ four-game winning streak came to an end in Wednesday’s 4-1 loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at the PPL Center in Allentown.
A quick whistle denied the Phantoms from grabbing a quick 1-0 lead, but they made up for it in a hurry scoring three first-period goals in less than three minutes.
Tyson Foerster’s first of two goals came at 12:45 of the opening stanza when he fired a shot past Hershey goaltender Zach Fucale to make it 1-0, officially.
On the Phantoms next shot at 13:11, Derrick Pouliot made it 2-0 when his shot deflected off the stick of Hershey’s Kody Clark past Fucale. Foerster collected his second goal of the game at 16:03 on a rebound with the Phantoms on a power play.
Clark’s power play tally, set up by Martin Fehervary’s slap shot, was redirected past Lehigh Valley goaltender Zane McIntyre to make it 3-1, before Ryan Fitzgerald closed out the scoring with an empty-net goal at 19:43.
McIntyre made 27 saves for Lehigh Valley to improve to 4-0-0 versus Hershey this season. Fucale made 26 stops in the loss to drop his record to 5-2-0-1.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday at Giant Center at 1 p.m., when the Binghamton Devils come to town.

Hershey has now scored a power play goal in four straight games.
Hershey forwards Matt Moulson and Joe Snively each entered the game with points in five straight games. Moulson tallied five points (4g, 1a) in the streak and Snively two goals and three assists.
The Bearshave scored all three of their shorthanded goals this season versus Lehigh Valley at the PPL Center.
Hershey’s Connor McMichael and Lehigh Valley’s Tanner Laczynski each have three game-winning goals, a mark tied for the most in the AHL. Both players have six goals on the season, and each player has a hat trick.
