Title of ‘Lebanon County’s Best Living Amateur Golfer’ Now Up for Grabs

BY JEFF FALK

Bob Page was more than just some local amateur golfer in Lebanon County. He helped revolutionize the game locally, and helped usher it into the modern age.

Page, one of the finest – if not ‘The’ finest – amateur golfers that Lebanon County has ever produced, has passed. Page died on Tuesday, May 15 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lebanon at the age of 76.

Page won more Lebanon County Amateur golf titles than anyone ever, a total of five between 1967 and 1988. Page also holds the record for most Lebanon County senior amateur titles – he won four straight from 1989 to 1992.

A fierce competitor, Page’s short game around the green was unparalleled locally. He was an outstanding chipper and possessed a deft touch with a putter in his hand.

SwingerPage was also out-spoken about local golf issues and seemed to enjoy flying in the face of conventional thinking.

Page was inducted into the Lebanon Valley Sports Hall of Fame. He was also a veteran of the United States Army,

Page is survived by three daughters Jane, Elizabeth and Amy.

  1. Bob Page was one of the most surly guys you ever wanted to meet, but once you knew him a little, he could be very kind. He was one hell of a competitor!
