The championship flight of the 66th W.B. Sullivan Better-Ball-of-Partners will have a distinct local flavor. What remains to be seen is the degree to which Lebanon County teams will feast on their out-of-town competition.
Friday’s second and final day of qualifying at the annual golf tournament at the Lebanon Country Club produced two more local teams for the match-play championship flight. The Lebanon County teams of Roger Karsnitz-Brock Karsnitz and Chris Gebhard-Bill Stover joined Thursday qualifiers Rick Troutman-Greg Ulp and Jesse Brown-Cody Kersey.
Reigninng champs Dan Brown-Brian Auman are both from the County and the number-one seed in the 16-team, match-play bracket. Brown and Auman will open defense of their 2010 title Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. against Craig LaBarbera and Jim Gardina.
Troutman-Ulp earned the bracket’s number-three seed and will battle Ben Smith and Casey Osborne in their opening-round match. A win there would propel Troutman-Ulp into a quarterfinal tussle against the winner of Gebhard-Stover and Chris O’Shea and Eric Schmidt.
Fourth-seeded Kersey-Brown will face Danny McCreesh-Anthony Campanile, while Karsnitz-Karsnitz, the five-seed, will take on Griff Baeshore-Connor Lefever.
Saturday’s quarterfinal matches are slated to tee it up in the early afternoon. The semifinal and championship matches are scheduled for Sunday a.m. and p.m..
