BY JEFF FALK

It may be the best way to celebrate history – making a little more of it.

The largest gathering of athletic talent and coaching prowess that Lebanon County has ever known will unfold on Monday, April 29th, at 6 p.m. at Prescott Fire Hall, on Prescott Road, in Prescott. The event, affectionately known as The Lebanon County Bicentennial Sports Extravaganza, will serve as a fund-raiser for the Lebanon County Historical Society and the Lebanon Valley Bicentennial.

In attendance will be Miami Dolphins defensive end Jared Odrick, Olympic Gold Medalist Jamie Beyerle-Gray, the head coach of the Lebanon Valley College men’s basketball’s 1994 national championship team, Pat Flannery, local racing legend Bobby Gerhart, Hershey Bears president Doug Yingst, Lebanon Catholic girls’ basketball coach Patti Hower, former NFL stand-out Dick Shiner, local baseball legend Lyle Krall, former professional soccer player Keith Fulk, former professional golfer Ben Witter, former Philadelphia Phillies public relations man Larry Shenk, former Hershey Bear Willie Marshall and Cedar Crest swim coach Beth Yocum, as well as others.

Many of the attending local sports celebrities will speak and there will be photo opportunities. Tickets, which include dinner, are priced at $35 and can be purchased at the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce, 604 Cumberland Street in downtown Lebanon.
