The Palmyra girls’ cross country team has won all sorts of different championships, on many different levels. Yesterday, the Cougars added to their collection.
On Tuesday afternoon, Palmyra claimed yet another Mid-Penn Keystone Division title by sweeping a tri-meet with Lower Dauphin and Mechanicsburg. The Cougars bested the Falcons 19-45 and tamed the Wildcats 20-47.
Palmyra, which earlier in the fall had claimed its sixth straight Lebanon County crown, placed five runners among the top seven finishers. Sophomore Kelsei Bixler showed the way for the Cougars by finishing second, in 19:42.
Teammates Sarah Hollen came in fourth in 19:53, followed by Maria Tukis, who was fifth in 20:05, Miranda Salvo, who was sixth in 20:28, and Juliana Kerper, who ran seventh in 20:58.
Palmyra, the reigning District Three Class AA champion, will compete in the District Three Class AAA cross country championships outside of Hershey’s Giant Center later this month.
