From Harrisburg to Allentown to Richmond, Virginia to Lititz to Columbia, Maryland. What a long strange trip it was for the PA Classics Premiere Blue Under-16 girls’ soccer team.
But at least it didn’t return home without something to show for all the miles.
The PA Classics Premiere Blue, a traveling team based in Harrisburg, recently completed its elongated eight-month season by reaching the semifinals of the prestigious President’s Cup tournament. This spring, the PA Classics Premiere Blue captured the tournament championship at Eastern Pennsylvania Regional event in Allentown.
““The girls have really melded as a team,” said head coach Joe Longenecker. “It is a wonder to watch them on the field working together.”
The team was made up of players from both the east and west shores in Harrisburg, and did include some local competitors. The PA Classics Premiere Blue featured Avery Hoover, a midfielder out of Lebanon, Anna Kauffman, a forward from Palmyra and forward Jill Reis of Lebanon.
The PA Classics Premiere Blue also claimed the championships of the Capital Fall Classic in Richmond in November, the PA Classics Winter Showcase in Lititz in December and the Ultimate Cup in Richmond in February, before going 1-1-1 at the March Mania in Columbia in March.
