Lebanon County Scholastic Golf Champions Crowned at Pine Meadows

BY JEFF FALK

Lately, there have been those who have been concerned about the state of youth golf in Lebanon County. On Tuesday afternoon in North Lebanon township, a point was made to the contrary.

At the 5,734-yard, par-72 Pine Meadows Golf Course, the annual Lebanon County Scholastic Golf Championships were contested, and three different factions were crowned local champions. Cedar Crest junior Colin Kosko captured the boys’ individual championship while leading his Falcons to the team title, while Palmyra senior Ceci Richardsen claimed a second girls’ individual crown.

Kosko fired a seven-over par 79 to edge fellow Falcons Evan Dissinger and Tim Bomberger, who both carded 82s. For the 16-year-old Kosko, it was his first competitive tournament title.

Meanwhile, Kosko, Dissinger, Bomberger’s performances, along with teammate Trevor Firestone’s, added up to a dominant victory in the team competition.

Northern Lebanon’s Wyatt Beakler fired an 84, while Justin Ayers of Annville-Cleona counted 85 shots.

Richardsen followed up a girls’ championship at the Lebanon Country Club as a sophomore by carding an 87 at Pine Meadows. Locked in a tight battle with Lebanon Catholic’s Annalia Kostow most of the day, Richardsen prevailed by a single shot.
