Killian’s Best Lands Him in Chocolatetown for the Second Straight Year

Sometimes, it’s OK to finish second.
It’s always OK to do your best.
Realistically, second was the best Dylan Killian was going to do on Saturday at the Class AA regional wrestling tournament at Wilson High School. And that’s exactly where the Annville-Cleona junior finished in the 140-pound weight class bracket.
In the championship match of the bracket, Killian was tech falled 18-3 at the 2:37 mark by Schuylkill Valley stud Colin Shober. The top-seeded Shober, who has won 189 straight bouts, is the second-rated wrestler at his weight in the country.
Yet despite the overwhelming setback, Killian qualified for the PIAA Class AA tournament for the second consecutive year. Killian will open competition at the state tournament on Thursday at Hershey’s Giant Center.
Killian earned his shot at Shober with the 101st win of his career – a 5-3 overtime decision over Juniata’s Seth Beitz – in Saturday’s semifinal. A week earlier at the District Three Class AA tournament at Hersheypark Arena, Shober had scored a 20-5, 6:00 technical fall of Killian in the finals at 140.
