Hayes Graduates from Little to Flying Dutchman

 BY JEFF FALK

Imagine a clear, crisp day in Annville. Fall is in the air and so are footballs.

Quarterback Tyson Hayes goes under center, barks out some commands, takes the snap, fades back and looks for a receiver down field.  One can almost see the play developing.

But is this imaginary scene a blast from the past or a glimpse into the future?

Hayes, a senior quarterback for the Annville-Cleoana football team, recently committed to grace Arnold Field’s gridiron, on the campus of Lebanon Valley College, this fall.

As a senior QB, Hayes completed 83 of his 191 throws for 1,094 yards, six touchdowns and eight picks.  Hayes, who was also an accomplished basketball player, also carried the pigskin 60 times for 204 yards.

A three-year starter, the 6-2 Hayes’ Little Dutchmen went 1-9 overall in 2011 and 0-6 in Section Three of the Lancaster-Lebanon League. He is one of five L-L league performers who have committed their football talents to LVC head coach Jim Monos.
