It was an anti-climactic conclusion to a spirited event.
On Sunday at Pine Meadows Golf Course in North Lebanon township, Andy Gibbons and Dan Brown ran away with the championship at the venue’s annual Summer Classic tournament. Gibbons and Brown needed just 11 holes to bomb Tim Leeper and Greg Behney 8&7 in the final match of the championship flight.
A total of 48 teams competed in the three-day tournament.
Two weeks earlier at the 54th annual Lebanon County Amateur Championship, Gibbons finished as the runner-up to Tony Deraco. Brown, the 2011 County Amateur title holder, chose not to compete in the amateur championship of local golf.
Speaking of Deraco, he teamed with Tom Mettley to tie for third-place with Bill Massar, Jr. and Jeff Hoke at the Summer Classic.
Meanwhile, Jesse Brown and Cody Kersey were nearly as dominant in capturing the first flight, as they ripped Bob Stiffler and Charlie Hain 6&5 in the flight’s final match.
The second flight went to Brook Hoover and Brian DiScullio.
