Future Linebacker Mark Pyles Named All-State at Quarterback

 BY JEFF FALK

How good was Mark Pyles’ senior season of 2013? It was one of the finest offensive performances in the history of Lebanon County scholastic football.

It was also good enough for Pyles to be named all-state among big schools in Pennsylvania.

Pyles, a senior at Lebanon High School, was recently named to the Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class AAAA all-state team at quarterback. Earlier this winter, Pyles was named Lebanon Sports Buzz’s player of the year.

Pyles, who has committed to play linebacker at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, put up 3,900 total yards of offense and had his hands in 48 touchdowns – both totals were tops in the state this fall.  After going winless in 2012, the Pyles-led Cedars went 7-4 and reached the District Three Class AAAA playoffs.

Over the ground, Pyles, 6-0 and 215 pounds, gained 1,084 yards and tallied 16 touchdowns. Through the air, Pyles amassed 2,824 yards and tossed 32 scoring strikes.
