It’s been a very good season for the Cedar Crest girls soccer team. If it wasn’t for the presence of Conestoga Valley, the Falcons would be in the midst of a great one.
On Tuesday Night at Earl Boltz Stadium in South Lebanon, the Falcons dropped a 2-0 decision to the Buckskins in a showdown for the late-season in lead in Section One of the Lancaster-Lebanon League. Cedar Crest actually out shot Conestoga Valley, but couldn’t put away its chances.
The setback was the Falcons’ second at the hands of the Buckskins this year, and fifth consecutive overall. Cedar Crest is now 13-3 on the campaign and 9-2 in the section.
With a 13-3 overall record and a 10-1 Section One mark, Conestoga Valley is in the driver’s seat for the section title.
The Buckskins assumed a 1-0 lead with a goal on their initial shot of the night, 15 minutes into the contest. Then with 15 minutes remaining, Conesotga Valley added a bit of insurance.
Both the Falcons and the Buckskins are headed to the upcoming girls’ soccer postseason. And Cedar Crest could get at least one more shot at Conestoga Valley this season.
But for the time being, advantage Buckskins.
