They say once coaching infiltrates your blood stream, it never comes out. Brad Karli has been bitten by the coaching bug, hard.
Recently, Karli was named as an assistant coach for the Lebanon Valley College men’s basketball program. A product of Cedar Crest, Karli will assist head coach Brad McAlester with practice, recruiting, scouting and game management, among other things.
Previoulsy, Karli spent six seasons in a similar role with Division Two Bloomsburg University. There, Karli helped lead the Huskies to three straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoff appearances.
Before that, Karli was an assistant coach at Elizabethtown College under veteran head coach Bob Slosser for 11 years, during which the Blue Jays compiled a combined record of 181-117. E-town qualified for its conference playoffs nine of those 11 years, reached the NCAA Division Three tournament three times and made it to the national championship game once.
Karli joined the Blue Jays staff after graduating from Elizabethtown in 1998. In addition to playing baseball, Karli starred as a point guard on the basketball court for Elizabethtown, and today is still eighth on the school’s all-time assist list and ninth on the Blue Jays’ career steals list.
Earlier this year, Karli was one of the finalists in Elizabethtown College’s search for Slosser’s replacement.
