When the Dust Settled, Annville was the Last Team Standing

 It played in the first of the 11-game playoff schedule. And it played in the last.

 And in between, in a wild and wide-open tournament, Annville established itself as the best team.

 On Tuesday night at Earl Wenger Memorial Field, Annville won the championship of the Lebanon County American Legion baseball league with a 14-13, walk-off win over Fredericksburg. Nat Hughes’ two-run single in the bottom of the seventh capped a four-run Annville rally that erased a 13-10 deficit.

Mitch Hostetter and Matt HughesWith the win, Annville improved to 4-0 in the postseason and 13-6 overall. It was Annville’s fourth County title ever and its first since 2004.

As the Lebanon County champion, Annville will compete in the eight-team, double-elimination Region Four American Legion tournament, which will be hosted by Fredericksburg at Earl Wenger Field, beginning Saturday. As the host team, Fredericksburg will also compete in the event.
